I spotted some of what looks like altocumulus clouds over my house today at around 7PM.
We never see these where I live, so it was an interesting change of pace.
Apparently if spotted in the morning, these can be an indicator of unstable weather or aj approaching storm front. There's an old sailors' saying that goes "mackerel sky, mackerel sky — never long wet, never long dry" that refers to these clouds.
