When I got home from the gym this morning, my mom called me outside to look at something growing in the garden. I ran out back to see a white blob of... something. It was a slime mold.
Slime molds are weird. They aren't a fungus. This one, "Dog Vomit Slime Mold", is more like a giant single cell organism with a ton of nuclei that crawls around looking for anything decaying. They're most common on rotting logs or similar places.
I pushed that leaf up against it to see if it'd move throughout the day. Much to my dismay, it didn't. Now it's shriveling up and turning brown. It'll decompose into spores soon.
